  6.  First, two important points:

  8.      1 - MandelTour requires AGA system!  
  9.  
  10.      2 - For NTSC users :
  11.  
  12.      Due to its very principle, MandelTour comes with a graphic library of 
  13.      Mandelbrot pictures. Here, these pictures are PAL sized and the program
  14.      runs in PAL screens matched with them. Of course, these pictures can be 
  15.      seen within a NTSC display, but at the price of some distortion, not to 
  16.      mention that 20% of the picture is below the bottom of the screen. 
  17.      So, better to pass into a true PAL screenmode:

  19.       - either try your luck with the Nico François utilities in the 
  20.         AmigaToNTSC drawer, from the Fred Fish disk #953 (included):
  21.         click the AmigaToPAL icone before launching MandelTour or SlideShow; 
  22.         normally, the program should then open a true PAL screen).

  24.       - or, better still, reboot your Amiga and ask for a PAL display 
  25.         (press both mouse buttons while rebooting)

  27.      In both cases, be sure to have the PAL monitor icone inside your 
  28.      devs:Monitor drawer.

  31.   What is MandelTour?
  32.  
  33.   Of course, MandelTour is meant to be nothing less than the finest 
  34.   Mandelbrot explorer for Amiga systems... Never heard something like that?
  35.  
  36.   Well... MandelTour is not the fastest of all. No fantastically accurate
  37.   arithmetics  -- although not that bad, up to 128-bit routines. Sure, 
  38.   its point and click enlarging routine, though efficient, may look 
  39.   primitive compared with those of some competitors. So far, no ARexx port, 
  40.   no in-line help...
  41.   
  42.   Simply, it currently gives the best pictures.
  43.  
  44.   Did you see the Mandelbrot images by Uwe Krueger, in the Meeting
  45.   Pearls #1 CD-Rom, computed with a workstation? MandelTour can 
  46.   provide equivalent pictures. Double-clik the SlideShow icone and see 
  47.   what MandelTour can do. To the best of our knowledge, no other Amiga
  48.   software can make a similar job.

  51.   The drawer contains
  52.  
  53.       - a demo version of MandelTour
  54.       - a graphic library consisting of a hundred or so 256-color Mandelbrot
  55.         pictures, both low-res or hi-res, full size or reduced.
  56.       - a SlideShow program for hi-res pictures (try it right away!)
  57.       - a short illustrated file explaining the various rendering modes of 
  58.         MandelTour. (do try it too)  
  59.       - the general MandelTour notice

  62.   MandelTour is a commercial program.

  64.   You have only a demo here, with several degraded features, namely :
  65.     (1) all the saving options have been suppressed
  66.     (2) you cannot do more than one enlargement at a time from the
  67.         various images of the library. In other terms, this demo is aimed
  68.         at giving you a taste of the new rendering facilities offered by
  69.         MandelTour, not at allowing you to freely explore the Mandelbrot 
  70.         Set; however, the numerous library pictures, together with the
  71.         custom navigation functions of MandelTour will offer you a fair
  72.         guided tour across the depths of the Set. To compute a new enlar-
  73.         gement, you will be obliged to reload a library picture.
  74.     (3) the keyboard input of coordinates is inhibited
  75.   The other features are functional.

  87.   if you want a PAL or a  NTSC version, because the program comes on two 
  88.   diskettes with basic pictures to begin with, so you must tell which 
  89.   screen format you prefer for them.
