- First, two important points:
-
- 1 - MandelTour requires AGA system!
-
- 2 - For NTSC users :
-
- Due to its very principle, MandelTour comes with a graphic library of
- Mandelbrot pictures. Here, these pictures are PAL sized and the program
- runs in PAL screens matched with them. Of course, these pictures can be
- seen within a NTSC display, but at the price of some distortion, not to
- mention that 20% of the picture is below the bottom of the screen.
- So, better to pass into a true PAL screenmode:
-
- - either try your luck with the Nico François utilities in the
- AmigaToNTSC drawer, from the Fred Fish disk #953 (included):
- click the AmigaToPAL icone before launching MandelTour or SlideShow;
- normally, the program should then open a true PAL screen).
-
- - or, better still, reboot your Amiga and ask for a PAL display
- (press both mouse buttons while rebooting)
-
- In both cases, be sure to have the PAL monitor icone inside your
- devs:Monitor drawer.
-
-
- What is MandelTour?
-
- Of course, MandelTour is meant to be nothing less than the finest
- Mandelbrot explorer for Amiga systems... Never heard something like that?
-
- Well... MandelTour is not the fastest of all. No fantastically accurate
- arithmetics -- although not that bad, up to 128-bit routines. Sure,
- its point and click enlarging routine, though efficient, may look
- primitive compared with those of some competitors. So far, no ARexx port,
- no in-line help...
-
- Simply, it currently gives the best pictures.
-
- Did you see the Mandelbrot images by Uwe Krueger, in the Meeting
- Pearls #1 CD-Rom, computed with a workstation? MandelTour can
- provide equivalent pictures. Double-clik the SlideShow icone and see
- what MandelTour can do. To the best of our knowledge, no other Amiga
- software can make a similar job.
-
-
- The drawer contains
-
- - a demo version of MandelTour
- - a graphic library consisting of a hundred or so 256-color Mandelbrot
- pictures, both low-res or hi-res, full size or reduced.
- - a SlideShow program for hi-res pictures (try it right away!)
- - a short illustrated file explaining the various rendering modes of
- MandelTour. (do try it too)
- - the general MandelTour notice
-
-
- MandelTour is a commercial program.
-
- You have only a demo here, with several degraded features, namely :
- (1) all the saving options have been suppressed
- (2) you cannot do more than one enlargement at a time from the
- various images of the library. In other terms, this demo is aimed
- at giving you a taste of the new rendering facilities offered by
- MandelTour, not at allowing you to freely explore the Mandelbrot
- Set; however, the numerous library pictures, together with the
- custom navigation functions of MandelTour will offer you a fair
- guided tour across the depths of the Set. To compute a new enlar-
- gement, you will be obliged to reload a library picture.
- (3) the keyboard input of coordinates is inhibited
- The other features are functional.

- and the current price is 240 FF, including shipping. Paiement only by postal
- order or checks in FF drawn on a French bank. Sorry, no credit card, and,
- please, no cash (forbidden by international postal regulation). Precise
- if you want a PAL or a NTSC version, because the program comes on two
- diskettes with basic pictures to begin with, so you must tell which
- screen format you prefer for them.
